Journey in Words and Song

This project is all about taking groups of young people, charting their individual life journeys and then guiding them through the process of how to collectively combine their stories into one piece of work producing a collaborative piece which they can all be proud of.

This project is aimed at young people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and can be delivered in schools, after school clubs, youth clubs and other youth projects.

This project is also very effective and beneficial for those individuals dealing with bereavement and other emotional traumas, as well as when working with groups who are going through rehabilitation.

The project does not stop there. Once the words have been written, the young people then decide whether it should be a song, a spoken word piece or even a monologue which is then set to music, recorded in the studio and filmed. The tutors are on hand to simply guide them through the process to achieve the end result desired within the time allocated.
At each stage the young people are fully involved; they make all the final decisions about the content and are in control of the outcome. The students learn new transferable skills as they become part of the creative process.
